At Reading Rx, we believe every child deserves the gift of reading. Yet, the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) reading results showed continued declines in fourth and eighth-grade reading scores nationally, reaching levels comparable to the early 1990s, with no states showing gains. NAEP, often called the “Nation’s Report Card,” measures how well students across the U.S. are mastering key reading skills, highlighting the urgent need for early literacy support.
